What are GDI Objects?
This article shows how to monitor GDI Objects while using SOLIDWORKS or any other application.
Have you ever gotten a SOLIDWORKS warning that your available Windows resources were critically low and SOLIDWORKS windows need to be closed? Or maybe that you're low on memory? This issue might be due to video memory or what is called GDI objects.
There is a hard limit in Windows of 10,000 GDI Objects. Increasing this amount using registry hacks is not recommended and often causes more problems than it fixes. Reducing the number of GDI Objects being used by an application or by Windows in general is usually the best practice and often comes down to simply closing some windows.
This video will show how to monitor GDI Objects so you know exactly where you stand.
