Setting up templates for NESTINGWorks

Defining default templates in NESTINGWorks for best performance

NESTINGWorks is a 3D design tool that runs inside SOLIDWORKS to help optimize sheet metal and flat stock designs as well as support the transition from design to manufacturing for sheet metal and flat goods. NESTINGWorks creates SOLIDWORKS assemblies that can be used to communicate with any manufacturing application.

Before running NESTINGWorks for the first time, check the default assembly template (.asmdot)

To check, first open SOLIDWORKS and turn on the NestingWorks add-in under Tools, Add-ins:

Then check the settings under Tools, NESTINGWorks, Settings:

Under Default Template, click the browse button () to confirm that there is a template in the default SOLIDWORKS template location, typically:

C:\ProgramData\SOLIDWORKS\SOLIDWORKS {version}\templates

If there is no assembly template in the default Templates folder, you either copy an assembly template to the default folder or browse your computer to select an assembly template in an alternate location.

If there is no template set, NESTINGWorks may experience instability.
