How to install the PDM Client
Did your I.T. just issue you a new computer without installing the software you need? Did you just try to access the vault and find that PDM Client was never installed on your local computer? Let's look at how to complete the setup.
What you’ll need to get started:
1. SolidWorks installation files
2. PDM server name
3. Administrative permissions
- Install the PDM Client software.
- 1.1 Locate and run the Solidworks setup file as an administrator.
- 1.2 Choose Install on this Computer.
- 1.3 Follow the prompts until you land on the Product Selection screen.
- 1.4 Select the PDM Client.
- 1.5 Follow the prompts to complete the installation.
- Create your local vault view.
- 2.1 Go to the start menu in Windows and search for the PDM administration tool.
- 2.2 Right Click on SOLIDWORKS PDM Administration in the upper left and select add server.
- 2.3 Enter the server’s name.
- 2.4 Expand the server node and select a database.
- 2.5 Right click on the database and select Create local view.
- 2.6 Accept the license and log in.
- 2.7 Select the location for the vault view.
- 2.8 Choose yes to make the view accessible to all users.
- 2.9 Log it to the vault!
Now you’re done installing the PDM Client!
