This article will walk you through the process to set up two-factor authentication on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.
2-Factor Authentication is an extra-security option available on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform to ensure secure log-ins for platform users.
NOTE: 2-Factor Authentication is controlled by platform administrators. Users can only set up 2FA if they have been permitted to by an admin. This guide will walk you through the process for admins to grant the privilege and users to set it up for their own specific profile, once granted permission.
Administrators:
First you will need to enable the setting for users (or yourself) to use 2-Factor Authentication
On the Platform, select 3DPassport Control Center from your apps, then Security
You will then be presented with two options, Force or Allow users to Use 2-Factor Authentication
As the descriptions suggest, Forcing 2FA requires all users to employ a 2-Factor authentication for their login, creating a more robust security process for logging in.
Allowing, give users the option to create a 2FA for login, should they choose.
Users:
NOTE: BEFORE YOU ENABLE 2FACTOR AUTHENTICATION you will need to download two apps from the app store to your phone
3DSWYM
Google Authenticator or DuoMobile on iOS
These will be necessary to the process of setting up 2Factor Authentication
First, go to "My Profile" on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform
Then choose "Preferences"
Then select "Manage" next to "2 Factor Authentication"
NOTE: The following 2-Factor Authentication window will populate in a second tab. It is important to keep the first tab open that displays the information in the image above, as we will be coming back to it later.
It is at this point that you will want to make sure you have 3DSwym and either Google Authenticator or DuoMobile before you proceed.
Once you have the apps downloaded, click "Activate"
Next you will be prompted to create answers to three security questions, two chosen from a premade list and one you will create yourself
Following the creation of the Security questions, you will need to link 3DEXPERIENCE to the 3DSwym app on your phone
On your 3DSwym app, select "pair my platform with a QR Code" near the bottom of the screen
Then select "Scan pairing code"
You will then be prompted to scan the QR code using the app and your phone's camera
Once you have successfully scanned the QR code, you will be prompted to sign into your platform through the 3DEXPERIENCE app
Once you are signed in and if you are connected to multiple tenants, you will be prompted to select which tenant you want to connect to, then select "Pair"
Now that you have connected the platform to the 3DEXPERIENCE 3DSwym app on your phone, you are ready to switch to Google Authenticator (or DuoMobile on iOS).
From here we will be finalizing the set up for the 2 Factor Authentication process.
Go back to the the first tab you opened on your computer's web browser to start the process for 2-Factor Authentication. It should still be displaying this page
Once again, we will click "Manage"
You will then be prompted again to Activate your 2-Factor Authentication
Click "Activate"
Next, scan the QR code with your phone's camera while inside the authenticator app.
Once it is successfully scanned, the app should display that it is now successfully connected to your 3DEXPERIENCE platform and display a six digit code.
Punch in the six digit code into the box "Current code displayed by your application"
You will then be presented with a screen letting stating that your "2-Factor Authentication is enabled"
However, the process is not complete until you receive an email from Dassault confirming that is enabled. It should only take a minute or two for it to come through.
Once the email comes through, open the link provided in the message in your web browser, this will confirm that two factor authentication is activated!
NOTE: If at any point you choose to deactivate your 2-Factor Authentication, you will need to wait for a similar email confirmation, then open the link to confirm the deactivation.
