      1603 Error Code

      A Windows installer 1603 error is a generic error that is returned whenever an error occurs during the installation or if the installation was cancelled. The 1603 error is not the cause of the failed installation.

       

      The most likely cause for a failed install is insufficient local permissions on the system being installing to. In order to install the client software the user must have local administrative permissions for both file and registry access.

       

      The best way to determine the cause of the installation failure is to create a log file from the installation. To launch a logged install, do as follows (this is also described in the installation guide):

       

      1. Open a command prompt.
      2. Step into the setup folder of the PDMWorks Enterprise installation CD.
      • Type the following text to start a logged installation:

      MSIEXEC /i "SOLIDWORKS PDM Client.msi" /L*v C:\LOGFILE.TXT

       An installation log is created with information about the installation
